Good work isn’t enough: The creative freelancer's guide to the professional basics that get you rehired

Most freelancers lose work not because of their portfolio, but because of what happens after the "yes". Communication. Process. Reliability. The things clients notice and never say out loud. This free guide is what I learned from the other side of the table – 7 pages of the operational basics nobody talks about, but every client is quietly watching for.

This is for you if...

→ You're tired of figuring it out the hard way

You've made mistakes that cost you time, money, or clients – and you'd rather have a practical resource than learn everything from scratch.

→ You want something you can use right now

Not a course. Not a coaching program. Just a clear, practical tool you can open today and apply to your next project.

→ You're building a freelance practice that actually works

You take your work seriously and want the professional basics in place – so you can focus on the craft, not the chaos.

These resources come from 7+ years of freelancing, hiring other creatives, and learning what actually works – so you don't have to figure it out the hard way.

About me

Hey, I'm Irene

I've been freelancing for 7+ years – working with brands like Adobe, Google, Shake Shack, WestJet, and Dell on illustration systems, packaging, murals, and motion graphics. I also run Deeply, an independent design studio, where I bring together the right people for the right projects.

I started art·apart because I know both sides of the table – as a freelancer and as someone who hires other creatives. That experience showed me how much goes unsaid between clients and creatives, and how much easier things get when someone just talks about it honestly.

That's what this newsletter is. Honest stories, practical advice, and the stuff nobody prepares you for.

I also love coaching creative freelancers on the business side of what we do – pricing, clients, process, portfolio, positioning. The things that don't come with the portfolio.
